The Church of the Cross

Bossier City, Louisiana

A towering 199 foot tall cross stands just north of Interstate 20 and overlooks the Louisiana Downs Racetrack.  When the gamblers place their bets at this racetrack, they are doing so under the shadow of the cross.  This MAJESTIC CROSS stands as a symbol of Christ’s sacrificial love to the entire community as well as travelers on Interstate 220.  Their project was originally rejected by the city because of zoning concerns.  However, two state senators came to the churches rescue and helped them secure an exception from the city.

Lt Govenor Billy Nungesser said in his cross dedication address, “I do proclaim the cross at this church to be a true Louisiana treasure”
